We all live our lives freely in our homes and in our country. We have rules designed by our countries to regulate our lives and our affairs just like any other country in any part of the world. But do you know that there are some things we are enjoying feeling in our country that others are not so lucky to enjoy? Here are 10 bizarre things you didn't know were banned or illegal around the world.

1. Obesity - Japan 
In Japan if you are overweight, you are breaking the law in the eyes of the Japanese government. This extreme movement was put into place in 2008 with the aim to reduce the price of healthcare. 
The rule is mainly directed at the older generation of adults, affecting residents of Japan between the ages of 40 to 74. Every year, they must get their waist officially measured and see if it fits in with the regulations. For Men, the maximum waist size is 33.5 inches and a lady's waist should not go over 35.4 inches.

2. Ponytails - Iran

This would come as a surprise to some. The hairstyle, a common style during early school days is actually illegal in Iran. The law was introduced in 2010 and the intention behind the ridiculous rules was to have a country where not a single Western hairstyle could be inside. 

The punishment for breaking this law is pretty severe. A persistent failing of this law will be faced with stiff fines. Additionally, the barber that did your hair could even have their establishment close down. And if you thought that was harsh, a police guard has the right to cut off a man's here if it doesn't follow the legal guidelines applied by the Iranian government.

3. No Wearing of Blue Jeans - North Korea 

The Citizens of North Korea are prohibited from wearing blue jeans. Some would say this is mad, but dictator Kim Jong-un doesn't seem to share the same thing as the majority of Us reasonable people. 


Establishing the law because of the colour blue and its connection to enemy Country USA as it is supposedly a symbol of the enemy, something that massively triggers the anti-american that make up the government of North Korea.

4. Goldfish Brown - Italy 

Italy is making its second appearance on the list of ridiculous rules or bizarre laws, more specifically the capital of Rome where it is illegal to keep a goldfish in a bowl. 



The law was put into place after activists for Animal Rights claims, keeping a fish in a bowl is cruel. It was also reported that the standard round fish wall can allegedly trigger a fish to go blind with numerous fish experts saying that they failed to supply a sufficient amount of oxygen for the Guild bearing creature.

5. Flip Flops - Italy 

The Cinque Terre National Park Italy attracts many tourists that aim to hike on the Landscape and join the gorgeously view of the coast. However the authorities are cracking down on tourists and their particular shoe choices. The reasoning behind the law is with vital health and safety in mind. 



Cinque Terre is made up of five villages and rough foot parts connect them. Walking on these mountain like paths in shoes such as flip flop is really dangerous and can result in injury. Therefore if you are found wearing the unsuitable footwear whilst hiking, you could face a fine ranging between $56 and $2806.

6. Kissing at train stations - France
Friends, you would be surprised to find out that it is actually against the law for couples to kiss one another at train station. Lovers are strictly prohibited from displaying their affection for each other at train stations in France. 
This law was introduced all the way back in 1910. Authorities have their reasoning behind this law, claiming that this final moments of adoration are damaging to train time tables with trains being delayed due to couples desperate to show one another their love before they depart. 

7. No Video Game - Greece

The Greek government banned all video games across the country since 2002. The government intends to stop illegal gambling which accidentally leads to ban video games. You have to go to jail if you are playing video games including those that run on your home computers.

 8. No Jogging - Burundi

It seems if you jog in the early morning, it may result in life imprisonment in Burundi. Apparently Burundi got a football lover as president. But despite this, he banned jogging to ban war. 



Yes in Burundi jogging is considered as an act of War, so the president officially banned morning jogs to stop the conflict between Burundi ethnic groups and they believe this law would hold the Craze in the war.

9. Winnie the Pooh - China 

Winnie the Pooh, the Beloved yellow character that dominated some of our childhood is banned in China. China's president Xi Jinping was being mocked on many occasions by the internet with many memes being made comparing Xi and Winnie. These memes must have really hurt Xi feelings.


Images also began to spread online but Chinese sensors were blocking and erasing any memes ridiculing or comparing the president to winnie.
